Where do I start?

CM-fucking-J, dude. Whoah.

So here's all the shit I saw and notable things about all the shit I saw. I tried to find pictures by other people when possible so this wouldn't end up as just listing, but it's mostly listing. Sorry.

Surf City, Motocade, and Bang Bang Eche @ Red Bull Space, New Zealand Radio Mixer Surf City photo by Ken Grand-Pierre. OK, so I'm going to be honest. It was the first day, it was a mixer, and the drinks were free. But even though listening wasn't… Read More

Have you listened to this one yet?

'Cause it's on rotation! And it's beautiful! And I encourage you to call us during format shows and request it!

I'm sure many of you know Noah and the Whale from that whole "5 Years Time" song last year (the whole sun sun sun!! one, used in a car commercial, etc etc). TALK ABOUT A COMPLETE DEPARTURE. This is entirely more mature and substantially more depressing than their first album, BUT IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL. Also, track 6 ("Love of an Orchestra") is basically like Christmas. I highly… Read More

When I thought I had picked 2009 favorites…

These two albums destroyed me.
If you haven't sat down and listened to both of these, thoroughly, I suggest you do IMMEDIATELY. They are both perfect.
I mean, they're obviously good enough for me to dedicate an entire blog post to them.
JUST SAYIN'. Read More

...to post this photo.

Although I unfortunately heard nothing related to the contest (it's possible there'd just be some goodies waiting for us in the mail in the fall, though doubtful), I still think this picture was a big success. I mean, how fucking cool do we look? Honestly.

I'm trying to dig up the money this summer to print this nice and big… Read More

Hey all! This is Durden doing his first blog ever, for WAIH or otherwise. I hope the summer is going well for everyone and shows are popping up left and right that are amazing! So, for my first blog EVER I would like to take the time to introduce, discuss and honor a band that has been in my top 5 since 2003, Cursive. If you have ever talked to me about music, it is almost guaranteed that you have heard me talk about Cursive. Now Cursive, this is a band which can appeal to everyone. From their first full length, "Such Blinding Stars for Starving Eyes" to their 2009 release "Mama, I'm Swollen", there is a side of Cursive you will love. With every… Read More

Hello loves!

Hey, this is Amanda updating from good ol' Long Island this summer break. I'm sure you're thinking "Wow, it seems like this blog has been seriously neglected." Truth be told, it has, but I've got plans for fall of 2009 to keep you updated on all the good stuff we're listening to :)

So here's the latest from me! Last month I got the opportunity to go see The Pink Mountaintops over at Mercury Lounge. While I'm not a huge fan of the venue, the band was seriously awesome. The whole show was loud and the music was solid straight through. I wasn't sure if I was good to bring my camera or not so all I got were some disposable shots. When I get them… Read More

BDP

Sunday, November 9th, 2008
So, sadly, the Blacklight Dance Party (BPD) has been pushed back to next semester. This doesn't mean it's forgotten though! Everyone is encouraged to keep thinking about new ideas they'd like to see put into it. Last year I (with Jamie) thought of the idea of blacklight bubbles, and they turned out to be my favourite part. Just talking with Bill tonight we realized that blacklight fog would probably the most awesome thing ever heard of on this planet.
But sadly we could not find any sort of thing in production. :'( Read More
