Everyone who missed seeing Lovie Smith at the pirate ship stadium in Tampa: Tune in Friday night!

The Illinois Fighting Illini will take on the No. 22 USF Bulls at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on Friday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. This is a homecoming of sorts for Fighting Illini head coach Lovie Smith, who was the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2014-15 before he was fired after compiling an 8-24 overall record:

Elliott’s lawsuit against the NFL is a labor law issue, and the court must establish whether or not Goodell acted appropriately in issuing this suspension. In his decision granting the injunction, Mazzant acknowledged that the league may not have upheld its own credible evidence standard in Elliott’s case. The outcome of this case could shape Goodell’s authority in the future.

Does the NFL have other options? Since Mazzant was the judge who issued the injunction, it was unlikely he was going to overturn his own ruling. The NFL is appealing to a higher court, according to Wallach.

“The key to the game was our defense. If they play like that (for the rest of the season), we’ll be tough to beat,” quarterback Aaron Rodgers said after the season-opening win.

The Falcons’ new offensive coordinator, Steve Sarkisian, is still getting his feet wet in the NFL and working out how best to use an offense that features the likes of Julio Jones and Tevin Coleman. With talent in abundance, Sarkisian will need to work out when best to use each offensive weapon, and he certainly needs to improve on his Week 1 play calling.
